Cameras for Healing, Building a Culture of Peace"...
is a project that introduces visual art as a philosophy of healing, bringing together victims, (child soldiers and victims of violence) of post-war trauma in Sierra Leone." ...
Notable Canadian Photographer, Maurice Henri, leading this project, has consulted with professionals designing a program that both addresses the needs of the participants and the concerns of the larger community. As a result, Cameras for Healing is already becoming a template for how this important work can be brought to others in need.

Photographer Maurice Henri has created a beautiful photographic print, offered for sale, at the Barber Gallery with all proceeds going to “Cameras for Healing” aiding people in Sierra Leone. Thank you for traveling so far Maurice, to give such an informative open seminar to Guelphites! For further info on the Cameras for Healing project please contact Leslie Hayes at the Barber Gallery.

posted: 2009-03-19 14:34:04 |
Date: Sunday Sept 7, 2008
Location: Barber Gallery, 167 Suffolk Street West in Guelph, (519) 824-0821
An intimate evening with Emm Gryner and Royal Wood:
One of Canada's most acclaimed indie artists, Emm Gryner crafts highly polished, yet emotionally raw pop songs. Her talents caught the attention of international stars such as David Bowie and The Cardigans, both inviting her to perform in their touring bands. U2's Bono declared "Almighty Love" to be one of the six songs he wished he had written.
After a year and a half with David Bowie, Emm left to return to her career. In 2006 she released the critically acclaimed The Summer of High Hopes, "a winning mix of indie-rock, orchestral pop and ballads ... stunning." Brian Campbell of the Irish News
Emm is also the co host of CBC's "Under The Covers" with musician Danny Michel. She runs her own record label, m Dead Daisy Records.
